Who is Bomshell Boogie?

Hailing from a city which heavily influenced her love for music and literature, New Orleans, Louisiana, DJ Bomshell Boogie is a lover of Hip Hop, Southern and East Coast Rap, Soul, the Blues and Jazz music.

As a teenager, Bomshell Boogie had goals of being a Hip Hop Journalist and a DJ. While attending Loyola University, she made lifetime bonds and began to delve into the DJ scene, and in 2007, she gained her first DJ residency, “Bomshelter Thursday” at the now New Orleans’ favorite, The Dragon’s Den. The night was so successful that she began to get hired to DJ at different clubs in the city such as Club Dreams, Ray’s Over the River, Club Metro, opening shows for the House Of Blues Nola and Tipitina’s.

In 2008, she was employed by KKND POWER 102.9 as the afternoon mix show DJ of the Power Mix AT 5 with DJ Bomshell Boogie. After the success of the mix show, she then went on to host her own lifestyle and pop culture news show called The Tea on Sundays. After her tenure at the radio station, sadly she left with the opportunity of traveling across the United States and Canada for 5 years with a national rapper as an opening DJ as well as his show DJ from 2009-2013, appeared as an opener for over hundreds of shows, including the Smokers Club Tour and appeared on 106 & Park.

While touring, DJ Bomshell Boogie was booked for many events such as NBA All Star Weekend, two performances at the world-renowned New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival. She also was the opening DJ for world-renowned jazz musician, Trombone Shorty’s album release party for the album “Backatown” and also performed for the Soul Rebels Jazz Band album release parties.

Bomshell Boogie has been featured in several publications including Ozone Magazine (the DJ edition) and Hip Hop Weekly as one of the top 10 DJs in New Orleans. She was also featured in her favorite magazine, Essence Magazine, as well as Vibe Magazine, AntiGravity, and has participated in forums all over the country.

Bomshell Boogie now resides in her second home, Atlanta, GA where she continues to spin her vibrant style of hip hop, soul, and continues to rock stages and parties all over the world. She frequently travels to different countries along with many travel groups and gracing her dj skills on different stages. Her reach is now far beyond the clubs and parties from where she budded. Today, Bomshell Boogie is sought out by corporations and major events including Essence Musical Festival, car and bike shows, MAC Cosmetics, Adidas, The NBA All Star Game, Carol’s Daughter, Lifetime Movie Network, and DJs many events for reality tv shows as well as in rotation the past 12 years during Atlanta Black Gay Pride Weekend. She also continues to be the featured DJ on Essence Music Festival’s VIP on The River sold out boat party for over a decade. As an industry veteran, DJ Bomshell Boogie has managed to rock parties, stages, festivals and major events —who knew that she would grow to have an almost 20 year career in the business when she bought her first set of turntables with a long layaway from Jimmy at New Orleans Music Exchange and her first needles that DJ Wop bought her.
